Lavender Mint Body ScrubFebruary 12, 2014
I know Valentine's day happens every year on 2/14, yet I'm always unprepared...Am I the only on that waits til the last minute?
Since Valentine's Day is a few days away I thought I'd show you how to make a SUPER useful (inexpensive) gift for the big day. Plus, I would prefer it to be a gift that isn't candy... although it does involve sugar. In addition, it's great to make in bulk and share with teachers, co-workers, spouses, etc.
Why spend $9+ dollars on manufactured 18 oz. body scrubs when you already have the ingredients at home? When you make these scrubs at home $9 can go a long way in supplies that you probably use on a day to day basis.
The ingredients are listed from the most fine to the most course. If you're giving the scrub as a gift, I always suggest using sugar for body scrubs as it is less likely to scratch the skin, and salts for foot scrubs as they as more course.
Finally, Unless you absolutely want to go searching for 50 million kinds of spices, you can opt to use tea. I always use Celestial Seasonings because it's 100% natural and is only $2 for a whole box. Plus, it's more cost effective and if you ever need to make or share this recipe you already have the prefect combination.
-2 Parts preferred Exfoliant (like brown sugar, sugar, fine sea salt, pure sugar cane, sea salt, table salt, Epsom Salt)
-1 Part Oil (like Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Coconut, Vitamin E, Sunflower Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Soybean Oil -aka Pure Vegetable Oil) *If your prefer the scrub to be more course, use less oil. Exfloiants and Oils can be combined.
-10 to 20 drops of lavender essential oil (or change the scent by using your favorite essential oil)
-2 to 3 bags of peppermint tea
1. Pour exfoliant and tea into container. Blend well with a spoon.
2. Add Base Oil and let it settle. Once settled, Mix with a spoon.
3. Wrap it and give it your valentine.
Not only is it a personalized gift but it will definitely be memorable. Will you try it? Let me know!
Happy (Pre-...) Pre-Valentine's Day,
