Vanilla Chai Tea-quila

Tea and Tequila? Yes, please!

More often than not, I create new recipes on accident strictly out of curiosity. This is something I have affectionately known in my house as "kitchen magician," mostly because there is some type of abracadabra and/or prayer that happens prior to tasting the finished result. Luckily, these recipes are tried, true, and proven before I share them with anyone... You're welcome.

This past weekend, out of the clear blue air, I decided I wanted to try my hand at Vanilla Chai Tea. I already had Stash Premium Chai Tea Bags in the cupboard, so adding a tablespoon of vanilla was fairly easy to get my end result. However, we know that's not where the story ends, because I totally the tea into tea-quila. 

I happened to turn around and, on the counter, there was a shot of Toro De Lidia's Extra Añejo in the bottom of the bottle daring my to play kitchen magician. So I obliged. This recipe will vary based on the size of your cup, but the measurements below were constructed based on a standard 16 oz mug. Also, the tea-quila is just as good without the tequila.

1 Stash Chai Spice Black Tea Bag
1 tsp Vanilla
3 tsp Sugar
Splash of milk
Shot of Toro de Lidia Tequila
    Whipped Cream
    dash of cinnamon

1. Boil water, then pour hot water into a mug and add chai tea bag. Allow tea to seep for 3-5 minutes.
2. Add vanilla, milk, sugar, whipped cream and spices to hot water. Stir, then add tequila*
3. Serve warm.
