January Favorites

February 02, 2015

What do you mean January is over?
It's amazing how fast time flies! It seems like we were just recovering from celebrating the New Year, and now we're already two days into February. In the past 30 days, I have really been practicing enjoying the present moment more. I haven't been completely carefree but I have allowed myself to live on what I refer to as, a 'structured whim.'

I've never  really been into trying out new products (because I'm a creature of habit), but this since I promised myself that I would come out of my comfort zone a bit more, I have really been enjoying my new finds.

For the longest time I have really been struggling to perfect my skincare routine. I had a pretty good experience with this regimen, but it was short lived. I have really been tweaking and fine tuning that process throughout the month, and it turns out I wasn't able to duplicate that experience because I was neglecting 2 of the biggest reasons why it was working. One being, I wasn't using an exfoliant brush or the microderm abrasion system. Over the past few weeks, I have been using the Spin for the Perfect Skin spinbrush and it's making a huge difference. I will be doing a video review on it very soon, but if you just can't wait and want to get one for yourself, you can use the code shainaspin to get 70% off!

Another of my favorite products has been the LashEm Lash & Brow Enhancing Serum. I have always had very thin eyebrows, but I can honestly say that I have definitely seen a major improvement over the past few weeks. If you would like to see the results, I did a full video review that goes into more detail and is definitely worth watching.

Health & Fitness

Earlier in this post I mentioned there were 2 major reasons my skin wasn't clearing up, but only mentioned one. That's because the second reason falls under health and fitness. I am a very open and honest sugar junkie which is probably one of the biggest reasons why I break out. I can be honest in saying that I am not a fan of flat water and drink it as much as I should,  which is why I am giving Lemon Mint Water another try.

In addition to the lemon mint water, I've begun working out 3-5 days of the week again. You are always welcome to join me on my fitness journey! My hope is by recreating my actions that resulted in clear skin (not to mention it's a great lifestyle change), I'll be able to get the same results... I guess we'll all have to stay tuned.

Since I really don't watch very much TV (well, other than binge watching Netflix and completely neglecting the rest of the world for #TGIT/ShondaLand on ABC) and refuse to get cable, I have to find other ways to occupy my time. This month I began reading Dark Places by Gillian Flynn Gillian Flynn. Because I'm working a lot more, I didn't get to finish it before the month ended, but I am about half way through now and every time I read it, it's very hard to tear myself away.

Speaking of binge watching... Of course, I've been watching Friends, Beyond Scared Straight and Leverage on Netflix. I tried to watch the Interview, but fell asleep on it... 4 times. I did get to see a few new releases in theaters, and Selma and American Sniper topped the list.

Finally, SCANDAL is back! Don't forget to tweet with me every Thursday night.

Cheers to a new month, new finds and new experiences.
